This policy covers the Flick Tools website with all its tools, the Pro page and the purchase of Flick Pro. It is written to meet the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. The short version
- The tools run in your browser. The files and text you work with are processed on your device and are not uploaded to us.
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Fonts and scripts are delivered from this website itself.
- The Background Remover downloads its AI model from two external servers when you first use it. Your photo is not sent.
- If you buy Flick Pro, the payment runs through Stripe.
- Some tools remember settings in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device.
3. Hosting and server log files
This website runs on our own server, rented from Hostinger International Ltd., Larnaca, Cyprus, in a data centre in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. When you open a page, the server records technical data in log files: your IP address, the date and time, the requested URL and your browser's identification (user agent). We use these data only to deliver the website and to keep it secure. They are not analysed and no profiles are created.
The website was previously hosted at flicktools.vercel.app. Vercel Inc., San Francisco, USA, still receives requests to that old address and forwards them to this one. For these forwarded requests Vercel processes the same technical data. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; in addition, standard contractual clauses apply.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4. Your files and text
Images, PDFs, audio, screen recordings, text, CSV and JSON that you open in a tool are processed by your browser on your own device. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. A result only leaves your device when you download, copy or share it yourself.
5. Background Remover: AI model download
When you start the Background Remover for the first time, your browser downloads the open-source background removal library and its AI model from two servers:
- cdn.jsdelivr.net (jsDelivr, a public content delivery network for open-source code, which serves its traffic through third-party CDN providers).
- staticimgly.com (IMG.LY GmbH, Kortumstraße 19-21, 44787 Bochum, Germany, which uses Cloudflare, Inc., USA, as its content delivery network).
These providers receive the technical data of the download request, in particular your IP address, the file requested, the time and your browser's user agent. Your photo is not sent; the background is removed on your device. Nothing is loaded from these servers before you start the tool. Your browser may keep the model files in its cache so the next start is faster. The servers of these networks may be located outside Switzerland and the EU, including the USA. Legal basis: providing the tool you started (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in offering it without running our own AI servers (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
6. Buying Flick Pro (Stripe)
When you continue to payment on the Pro page, you are forwarded to a checkout page of Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Limited, 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, D02 H210, Ireland). Stripe processes the data you enter there, such as your email address, name, payment details and country, to carry out the payment, prevent fraud and meet its legal duties. Stripe also processes data in the USA and elsewhere; details are in Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
We receive from Stripe the payment confirmation with your name, email address, amount, country and the type of payment method (for example card brand and last four digits), plus a reference showing that you ticked the consent box on the Pro page before paying. We use this to deliver Pro, answer questions and keep our accounting records. Legal basis: performance of the contract and our legal duties (Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR). Business records are kept for 10 years as required by Swiss law (Art. 958f Code of Obligations).
Unlocking and restoring Pro: when Stripe sends you back to the Pro page after payment, your browser passes the checkout reference to our server, and the server asks Stripe whether this purchase is paid. If you use Restore on another browser, you enter the email address from your purchase and the last four digits of your card or the receipt number; the server sends them to Stripe to find the paid purchase. In both cases the server only answers with a signed Pro license and does not store the reference, the email address or the number. To limit misuse, the server keeps the IP address of restore attempts in memory for at most one hour. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in protecting the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
7. Local storage in your browser (no cookies)
Flick Tools sets no cookies. To make certain functions work, entries are saved in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, are never sent to us, and remain until you delete them (for example by clearing this website's data in your browser settings).
flick_license_v2: your signed Flick Pro license (saved after payment or when you use Restore). It contains no personal data.flick_trial_v1: start and end date of your free 7-day trial.flick_account_v1: the optional local account (name and email, if you entered them).flick_invoice_from: your own business details in the Invoice Generator, so you do not have to type them again.flick_meeting_presets: saved presets in the Meeting Cost Counter.flick_timezone_zones_v1: the cities you picked in the Time Zone Planner.
In addition, a service worker keeps copies of this website's own pages and files in your browser's cache storage (flick-v2), so the tools also open when you are offline. None of these entries is used for tracking, so no consent banner is needed.
8. Contact by email
If you write to us by email, we use your message and email address only to answer you. We delete it when your request is finished, at the latest after 12 months, unless the law requires us to keep it longer (for example for purchase-related questions). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR.
9. Your rights
You have the right to request access to your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing and to receive it in a portable format. Write to kontakt@msstrategies.ch. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC / EDÖB), in the EU to the authority in your country.
